The Waco Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, July 15, in the 200 Block of Clay Ave. Officers responded to a distress call just after 3:15 a.m., discovering a male victim with a single gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving measures and swift transportation to the hospital, the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The next of kin has been notified.
According to preliminary reports, the shooting incident unfolded after a second male heard screams for help emanating from a hallway. Reacting swiftly, the concerned individual approached a room where a confrontation was taking place between three females and one male. As the second male intervened to assist, the original aggressor turned his fury toward him and initiated an attack. In response to the assault, the man defending himself discharged a single round, striking the initial aggressor.
Law enforcement authorities have confirmed that the individual who fired the shot has been cooperative throughout the investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made. One of the females involved in the initial altercation sustained minor injuries. Notably, all parties involved in the incident were guests at the hotel.
