The Irving Police Department is all set to host a Child Safety Seat Event on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 8:15 am to 11:15 am at the Family Advocacy Center, located at 600 W. Pioneer Dr. The primary objective of this event is to educate parents and caregivers on the critical importance of proper child safety seat installation to prevent child injuries and fatalities in car crashes.
With car accidents ranking as the leading cause of unintentional injury-related deaths in children, the need for correctly installed child safety seats cannot be emphasized enough. Astonishingly, over 80 percent of child safety seats currently in use on the road are improperly installed, placing numerous children at risk.
In response to this pressing issue and to enhance child safety on the roads, the Irving Police Department has organized this informative event. Participation is entirely free of charge, but due to limited availability, individuals interested in attending are required to schedule an appointment by calling 972-721-7360.
Certified child passenger safety technicians from the Irving Police Department will be on hand to provide guidance to parents and caregivers, demonstrating the proper installation of child safety seats in their vehicles. Through this initiative, the Irving Police Department hopes to equip the local community with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the safety of children during car journeys.
