Charles Richard Hahn, 74 years of age, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2009 in Abilene, Texas.
He was born June 11, 1933 in Wink, Texas. Charles spent most of his life in Wink and Monahans, Texas. Upon the death of his parents, Charles moved to Abilene State School.
Charles was a happy and outgoing person with an uncanny knack for remembering names. He seldom met a stranger. While living in Abilene, Charles participated in Special Olympics and won many awards for his running ability.
Charles was one of six children and is survived by two sisters, Elvina Hahn Myers of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Joyce Hahn of Monahans, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Rosenburg Hahn and William Lawrence Hahn of Monahans, Texas, one brother, Lawrence H. Hahn of Midland, Texas and two sisters, Luella Hahn Wiley of Irving, Texas and Pauline Hahn Gentry of Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at Abilene State School Chapel at 3 pm, Friday May 1, 2009, with Chaplin Bill Spencer officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 2, at 2 pm, in Monahans, Texas at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abilene State School, Abilene, Texas.
