Mattie May Robertson Neece was born on July 14, 1926 in Arkadelphia, AR to Joe Robertson and Elma Smith Robertson.
Mattie passed away at home in Whitney, Texas with family on July 2, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents,3 sisters and 3 brothers, her beloved husband, Newell Bryant Neece, and three sons Sam Chamberlain, John Thomas Chamberlain and Vernon "Butch" Chamberlain, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Verna Owens and Freida Castillo, five step-children, Monte Neece and wife Lydia, Dan Neece and wife Shirley, Peggy Stallcup and husband Dave, Bill Neece and wife April and Mike Neece and wife Cathy. She is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a few great, great grandchildren, and many friends.
Mattie worked at the Irving Golf Range in Irving, TX for 40 years, first as co-owner with her husband Bryant and later as an employee of Dan Strimple. Mattie worked until she was 83 years old and retirement was forced on her by health issues. She loved the golf range, the people she worked with and working with the public was a pleasure for her.
She was a quiet person, but when it was needed there was an inner strength that helped her survive. That strength was never more apparent than in her last months of life.
Mattie was loved dearly by her entire family and will be missed. Her body will be cremated and her ashes interred at the Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
Memorial services will be held on July 14, 2012 at 10:00 A.M.
