The City of Irving has completed a downtown revitalization project aimed at transforming a 1-mile section of Irving Boulevard in the historic Heritage District into a vibrant destination for residents and visitors. The project reconfigured the roadway from three lanes to two, enabling the addition of parallel parking, wider sidewalks, a bike lane, and streetscape amenities. Alongside these enhancements, the city also upgraded water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure in the area. This $22.2 million effort is one of many investments Irving is making to revitalize the Heritage District and attract both businesses and foot traffic.
Downtown Façade Program
The City of Irving is actively encouraging participation in its Downtown Façade Enhancement Program, a reimbursement initiative designed to help retail and commercial property owners revitalize building exteriors in the downtown area. This program supports private investment in enhancing the street-facing appearance of shops, restaurants, and businesses, aiming to improve downtown aesthetics, attract more business activity, encourage tourism, and bring facades into code compliance. The city hopes the program will build on recent investments in the Heritage District, helping make downtown Irving a more vibrant, attractive destination.
