Former long time Irving resident & co-business owner,
Lillian Odell Riggs, age 86, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012, at the
Titus Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services were held
Wednesday January 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with
Bro. Bob Griffith officiating. Interment followed at the Bridges Chapel
Cemetery with Jarrod Shelton, Jeff Shelton, Nolan Martin, Bryan Noel, Bo Henley
and Bob King and Shane Shelton serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Riggs was born
October 3, 1926 in Honey Island, TX, the daughter of Charles Barney Riedinger
and Eva Miriam Hester. She married Oliver Troy Riggs in Woodville, TX on
February 19, 1944. He survives. Mr. & Mrs. Riggs operated O.T. Riggs
Plumbing Company, one of the first plumbing companies in Irving, from the late
1940's until they sold the business and retired to East Texas in 1990. Mrs.
Riggs was a homemaker and also owned Lisa's Youth & Fabric Shop on 6th
Street for many years. O.T. & Odell were just 50 days away from celebrating
their 69th wedding anniversary, when the Lord called her home. Other
survivors include, a son, Charlie Riggs and wife Kay of Irving; two daughters,
Kim Johnson and husband Ronny of Wickes, Arkansas, and Christa Martin and
husband Paul of Celina; eight grandchildren, Kaylene Noel and husband Bryan of
Carrolton, Ashlyn Riggs of Irving, Shane Shelton and wife Brandy of Mena, AR,
Jarrod Shelton and wife Amber of Mesquite, Jeffery Shelton and wife Shalekoh of
Lockesburg, AR, Nolan Martin of Dallas, Rachel Martin of Celina and Rebeckah
Martin of Celina; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents
and a brother, Kenneth Riedinger. |
