James Michael Hunter

James Michael Hunter of Irving passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 23, 2025. James was born on November 28, 1959, in Dallas, Texas to parents James Barker Hunter and Kaye (Flowers) Hunter. James will be remembered as a loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He obtained a degree in Journalism and worked as an assistant professor at The University of Texas at Arlington where he also taught English. James was fluent in speaking three different languages, English, French and Spanish. He loved music and had collected an extensive vinyl collection, and he enjoyed spending time watching classic films. He was physically active lifting weights, riding his bicycle and walking every day.

James is preceded in death by his infant daughter Allison Miranda Hunter and leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents; sister Sandra Kay Petty; Nephew James Wade Petty and wife Emily and their son James Dylan Petty; Aunt Shirley Flowers; Uncle Steve Douglas and wife Betty Jean and their son Shane Douglas and his children Foster and Daphney Douglas; Cousins Rick Hamilton and wife Stephanie and their children Nikki Endicott and husband Brad and their son Cash Endicott; Greg Gunta and his children: Matt, Morgan and Kaitlyn; Amber Navarette and her son Colt Navarette; Vicky Glasco and husband Tom and their children; Frank Hamilton and wife Melissa; and their children Mason Hamilton, Ford Hamilton, Caroline Golightly and husband Cooper; and numerous loving friends and extended family members.

A graveside service will take place at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Boulevard in Irving. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.
