On Friday, August 16, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., officers from the Temple Police Department were dispatched to the 100 block of North 14th Street in response to an aggravated assault. Upon arrival, they found 35-year-old Kevin Berry, who had been struck in the head with an unknown object. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported Berry to a hospital where he remained for several days before succumbing to his injuries on August 18, 2024.
On August 21, 2024, Temple Police arrested 66-year-old Todd Johnson of Temple, TX, in connection with Berry’s murder. The case is currently under investigation.
