Kingsland Man Sentenced to 40 Years for Strangling Wife in Domestic Dispute

Dennis Price

Dennis Price, a 46-year-old resident of Kingsland, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of his wife, Carrie Price. The sentencing follows an investigation into the fatal incident that occurred in October 2022.

The case began when Price was initially charged with murder after strangling Carrie Price during a domestic dispute. According to the investigation, the couple had been arguing over the placement of their 10-month-old child, who had been removed from their care by Child Protective Services due to previous domestic issues. Despite their ongoing divorce, Carrie Price had been staying with Dennis Price as they attempted to reconcile.

On October 2022, a heated argument led Dennis Price to strangle Carrie Price, rendering her unconscious. Though first responders managed to revive her, she was airlifted to a Williamson County hospital, where she later died.

Dennis Price admitted to investigators that he had previously choked his wife. Surveillance footage revealed inconsistencies in his account of the events leading up to the attack, contributing to the initial murder charge.

Price's trial, which began on August 26, 2024, was delayed due to his injury from a bicycle accident on Labor Day. On September 5, Price and the prosecution reached a plea agreement where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and waived his right to appeal.

“I appreciate the jurors paying very close attention to the horrible facts of this case," said Llano County District Attorney Sonny McAfee. “Our thanks go out to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Ranger who assisted in obtaining the confession, and the medical personnel who worked valiantly to save Carrie’s life.”

Dennis Price will be eligible for parole in 2044, when he will be 65 years old.
