Azle Police Shift Missing Persons Case to Homicide Investigation After Body Found, Arrest Made

On June 1, 2024, the Azle Police Department received a Missing Persons report for Heather Treibly, who was last seen and heard from around May 27, 2024. This initiated a Missing Persons investigation.

On June 12, 2024, Azle Police responded to a report of a suspicious incident at a residence on Ty Lane. Officers discovered an unidentified deceased body concealed in the backyard. Investigators identified the body as Heather Treibly through unique tattoos. The case transitioned from a Missing Persons inquiry to a Homicide investigation.

During the investigation, Shane Breshers was identified as the primary suspect. Evidence led to a warrant for Breshers’ arrest for Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence. He was apprehended without resistance on June 14, 2024. The next day, Breshers faced additional charges of Murder.

The Azle Police Department acknowledged support from the Texas Rangers, Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
