Police Apprehend Felony Suspect Following Bicycle Pursuit

On June 24, 2024, at approximately 11:51 PM, the SPPD K9-Unit and patrol division conducted a traffic stop on a bicycle for traffic violations in the 3400 block of Azle Avenue. The suspect, identified as a known individual, initially evaded on the bicycle but was apprehended near the 5300 block of Azle Avenue.

According to officials, the suspect surrendered upon encountering the SPPD K-9 Unit approaching and hearing the dog barking. The individual confessed to purchasing methamphetamine from a nearby drug location and fled in an attempt to discard the evidence.

Further investigation revealed the suspect was wanted for a parole violation and was considered dangerous. He was subsequently arrested for the parole violation and faces charges including possession of a controlled substance and felony evading.

Authorities credited the swift response of Officer Hans and the diligent patrols of SPPD officers for apprehending a dangerous individual and removing a drug dealer from the streets.
