The Fort Worth Police Department remains vigilant in combating illegal street racing and street takeover events within the city. These activities, deemed both illegal and hazardous, have tragically resulted in multiple fatalities in recent years.
Last year, Texas legislators passed stricter laws to penalize such offenses. Leveraging these new measures and advanced technology, the Directed Response Unit has collaborated closely with the Air Support Unit and Intel units to ramp up enforcement efforts in recent months.
Since the start of the year, authorities have dispersed over a dozen street takeover events, confiscated more than 20 vehicles, and apprehended numerous individuals for associated crimes. Officers are prepared to swiftly intervene whenever these events surface in the community.
