Irving City Council Approves Increase to Homestead Tax Exemption

On Thursday, June 27, the Irving City Council approved a $5,000 increase to the residential homestead tax exemption for property owners who are either disabled or over 65 years of age. With this increase, qualified homeowners will have $55,000 of the appraised value of their residential property exempt from City of Irving ad valorem taxes for the tax year 2024 and beyond.

Residents who have not yet applied for the City of Irving homestead exemption for seniors and disabled individuals must submit their applications to the Dallas Central Appraisal District (DCAD) to qualify for the tax exemption.
