Irving Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Sexually Abusing Girlfriend's Daughter

An Irving man has been found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexual child abuse.

Back in 2019, a Dallas County Grand Jury indicted 48-year-old Pedro Cruz Almeida of Irving for sexually abusing a girl younger than 14 years of age on multiple occasions over a period that was 30 or more days in duration.

On April 23, 2018, the 10-year-old female victim made an outcry during a video recorded forensic interview at the Child Advocacy Center of Plano.   According to the victim, her mother's live-in boyfriend, Almeida, sexually abused her between March of 2012 and July of 2014.    The abuse occurred at their townhome in the 1600 block of Tucasa Dr in Irving (near Highway 183 and Loop 12).

The case was investigated by the Irving Police Domestic Violence Unit.

On June 28, 2024, Almeida was found guilty by a Dallas County Jury.  On July 8, 2024, Judge Elizabeth Davis Frizell sentenced him to 30 years in state prison.   Almeida has filed an appeal.
