Missing Person Case Turns into Homicide Investigation in Azle

Arrested: Shane Breshers and Victim: Heather Treibly

On June 1, 2024, the Azle Police Department received a report of a missing person, Heather Treibly. According to the report, Treibly was last seen and heard from around May 27, 2024. The Azle Police Department initiated a missing persons investigation.

On June 12, 2024, officers from the Azle Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious incident in the 100 block of Ty Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified deceased body concealed in the backyard of the residence. The body was presumably identified as Heather Treibly through unique tattoos known to the investigators. The investigation then shifted from a missing persons case to a homicide investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, Shane Breshers was identified as the primary suspect. Further evidence allowed investigators to obtain a warrant for Breshers' arrest on charges of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Breshers was arrested without incident on June 14, 2024. The following day, he was additionally charged with murder.

The Azle Police Department acknowledges the assistance provided by the Texas Rangers, the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office in this case.
