A serial burglary suspect was apprehended by Plano Police officers after attempting to hide in the air ducts of a hotel under construction on December 29, 2024.
At approximately 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a possible burglary in progress at the hotel located in the 700 block of Central Expressway, NB. This location had been previously burglarized, with flat-screen televisions stolen.
Upon arrival, officers established a perimeter and reviewed video footage of the suspect. A drone pilot and K-9 Unit were dispatched to assist in the apprehension.
While the K-9 Unit searched the building, the drone operator spotted the suspect climbing onto the roof. After searching the roof without success, officers eventually apprehended the suspect inside the building. He had re-entered the building through the air duct system.
The suspect, identified as Danny Latham Jr., was arrested for burglary of a building. During an interview at the jail, he confessed to burglarizing the hotel on three previous occasions, stealing flat-screen televisions and a laptop computer. He also provided the location of the stolen items, which were subsequently recovered.
The Plano Police Department commended the officers involved for their quick response time and effective coordination, which led to the safe and efficient arrest of the serial burglary suspect.
