Erik Jeovany Garcia Brizuela, a Mexican national illegally living in the United States, was sentenced to 365 months in federal prison for his role in a drug-trafficking conspiracy involving over 92 pounds of methamphetamine.
On March 11, 2025, United States District Judge Jane J. Boyle handed down the sentence. Court records show Garcia Brizuela, 35, pleaded guilty in December 2023 to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine in 2021.
Investigators determined that Garcia Brizuela sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant and enlisted Melissa Enit Alvarado to translate negotiations. Testimony revealed Garcia Brizuela had previously cooked liquid methamphetamine into crystal form for suppliers in Mexico. After ceasing production, he continued to sell methamphetamine, with quantities reaching as much as 40 kilograms at a time.
The total methamphetamine involved in the conspiracy had a wholesale value estimated between $134,000 and $296,100. Garcia Brizuela also sold heroin for $14,000 per kilogram with Alvarado’s assistance.
Melissa Enit Alvarado previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 46 months’ imprisonment in June 2023.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Dallas Division with support from the DEA Dallas Field Division, Dallas Police Department, Department of Homeland Security, North Richland Hills Police Department, Grand Prairie Police Department, Coppell Police Department, and members of the North Texas OCDETF Strike Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney George Leal prosecuted the case.
