Vanessa Sepulveda from Tarrant County Sheriff's Office Honored as 2022 Public Safety Communicator of the Year

Vanessa Sepulveda, a dedicated dispatcher from the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, has been recognized as the 2022 Public Safety Communicator of the Year. Her remarkable performance during a high-stakes incident last June, where she played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of deputies, led to this well-deserved accolade.

The incident unfolded when the Warrants Division transmitted an urgent message over the radio: "Shots fired." With adrenaline coursing through her veins, Sepulveda sprang into action, expertly handling the intense situation from her position behind the headset. As the barricaded subject relentlessly fired shots at deputies and launched incendiary devices, Sepulveda remained calm and focused on her duties.

Sepulveda's unwavering dedication to the safety of law enforcement personnel was recognized this week at the prestigious Major County Sheriffs of America Conference in Santa Barbara, where she was presented with the Public Safety Telecommunicator of the Year award. The conference showcased a video that vividly captured the crucial role dispatchers play in responding to dangerous situations like the one Sepulveda faced.
