Irving Police Arrest Man After Stolen Vehicle Stop and Foot Chase

Irving, TX — An Irving man was arrested early Wednesday morning after police stopped a vehicle reported stolen and the driver attempted to flee on foot.

An Irving Police officer spotted the stolen vehicle in the early morning hours of March 4th after receiving an alert about the vehicle.

Officers conducted a traffic stop, but the driver jumped out of the vehicle and ran from the scene. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and were able to take him into custody.

The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Xavier Enrique Herrera.

During a search of the vehicle and Herrera, officers discovered drugs.

Herrera was booked into the Irving Jail at approximately 4:39 a.m. He was initially charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Evading Arrest on Foot, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2.

After he was booked into the jail, additional drugs were discovered that Herrera had allegedly attempted to conceal.

As a result, he was also charged with Prohibited Substance or Item in a Correctional Facility.
