Fort Worth, TX — A Fort Worth Police Department helicopter made an emergency landing Saturday night after experiencing a mechanical problem shortly after takeoff.
According to officials, the department’s Air One helicopter was responding to assist with a call for service in the Central Division around 10:15 p.m. on March 7.
The helicopter had just taken off from the heliport and was about 100 feet in the air when the crew experienced a mechanical issue.
The pilot attempted to return to the heliport but was forced to make an emergency landing on airport property just short of the helipad.
Two people were on board the aircraft at the time, including the pilot and a tactical flight officer.
Both individuals were evaluated at the scene by the Fort Worth Fire Department for minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
Officials said the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
