On the morning of Thursday, August 30th, at approximately 5:40am, a harrowing accident unfolded on westbound Highway 114 near the boundary of Wise and Denton counties. Multiple emergency responders rushed to the scene in response to distress calls.
According to investigators from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the incident began when a 35-year-old man from Justin, Texas, was driving his sedan westbound on Highway 114 rear-ended an 18-wheeler truck in a devastating collision.
Following the initial crash, the man emerged from his sedan and attempted to cross the westbound lanes of the highway when he was struck by a passing 18-wheeler while on foot.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old Mukti Gurung of Justin, Texas, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the initial collision, but the second impact proved fatal.
There were no other reported injuries or casualties resulting from this incident.
