On Thursday night, at approximately 10:30 pm, Carrollton police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Guerrero Drive in response to a stabbing incident.
Authorities were alerted to the scene following a 911 call reporting a disturbance. According to a statement from the police, the caller, a friend of the victim, recounted the events leading up to the incident.
The friend explained that she had arrived at a parking spot and was attempting to back into it when 30-year-old Gerardo Rodriguez pulled up in front of her vehicle, obstructing her path. Rodriguez then exited his vehicle and began shouting at her.
A dispute ensued between the victim, who was seated in the passenger seat, and the suspect. As Rodriguez returned to his vehicle, the victim exited the car, and the argument continued. It was during this altercation that the victim's friend reportedly heard the victim shout that Rodriguez had a knife before collapsing to the ground.
Following the incident, Rodriguez fled the scene but later surrendered himself to the Carrollton Police Department.
The victim was rushed to a nearby local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Rodriguez was arrested and taken to the Dallas County Jail on a chage of murder.
