On September 1, 2023, at about 9:25 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 100 block of S. Carroll Avenue.
The preliminary investigation determined a uniformed armored car guard was shot during a robbery at the location.
The guard, 52-year-old David Ruback, was taken to a local hospital where he died. Ruback worked for GardaWorld Security Services and was exiting the Big Jim's Checks Cashed business when the incident occurred.
There is no suspect description at this time, and no suspect is in custody.
The investigation is ongoing with detectives actively working leads. Anyone with information is asked to call Dallas police.
