Grapevine Police Officer Brent Hartsell secured a prestigious gold medal in the cycling (street) event for men aged 50 and over at the 2023 World Police and Fire Games in Winnipeg, Canada. Officer Hartsell's remarkable achievement was celebrated during a recent City Council meeting, where Grapevine Mayor William D. Tate and other city leaders commended him for his outstanding performance and for representing the Grapevine community on the global stage.
The World Police and Fire Games, held every two years, brought together over 8,500 athletes hailing from law enforcement, fire departments, and police agencies from more than 50 countries worldwide. This Olympic-style competition featured a diverse array of sports, totaling more than 60 unique events. The Games, which have previously been hosted in various countries, including Australia, Canada, China, Northern Ireland, Spain, and Sweden, continue to foster camaraderie and excellence among these dedicated public servants.
