Two 15-Year-Old Students Arrested After Gun Report at Temple High School

The Temple Police Department apprehended two 15-year-old male juveniles on Wednesday, August 30, following reports of a student allegedly armed with a handgun at Temple High School (THS).

At approximately 7:45 a.m. that morning, a vigilant student alerted a School Resource Officer (SRO) about suspicions regarding another student carrying a weapon inside his backpack. In response, THS swiftly implemented a secure hold protocol, with additional Temple PD officers promptly dispatched to the school.

After a thorough investigation, officers located the student in question, who was found to be in possession of a handgun. Without delay, the student was taken into custody. Simultaneously, a second student was also detained and subjected to a search for any potential weapons. During this detainment, the second student reportedly became assaultive towards one of the officers, leading to their immediate arrest.

The secure hold at the campus was in effect until approximately 8:59 a.m. when authorities deemed it safe to release.

One of the suspects was arrested on charges of possession of a handgun, while the second suspect faced arrest for assaulting a public servant. Both individuals have since been transported to the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center in Killeen.
