Dallas Fire-Rescue Assistant Chief, Frank McKinley, has been appointed as the new Fire Chief of the Cincinnati Fire Department. Cincinnati City Manager Sheryl Long made the announcement during a news conference held on September 14, 2023.
"This community and department are ready for a fresh start and a new voice of leadership at the helm. I am thrilled to welcome Frank McKinley as incoming Chief of the Cincinnati Fire Department," stated City Manager Sheryl Long.
With 30 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Dallas, Texas, Mr. McKinley brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has previously held the position of Assistant Chief of Training, Communications, and Administration and will offer a fresh perspective, having served in a large, metropolitan fire department in Dallas.
"This department is steeped in a rich heritage and tradition that I am excited to build upon. I am eager to start my listening and learning tour and take in all innovative ideas and feedback to develop a symbiotic plan of action that not only improves operations but improves the lives of our team members and residents," expressed Frank McKinley in regard to his new responsibilities within the Cincinnati Fire Department.
Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval commented, "During his long and decorated career, he has exhibited the experience and the guiding hand that we need – and I'm confident that City Manager Long has found the best leader possible to guide our fire department forward."
