In the early hours of September 14, 2023, at approximately 3:10 am, Dallas Police were dispatched to the 3100 block of Community Drive in response to reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had been shot at the location. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Inside the residence, officers encountered Angel Morales, a 22-year-old individual, who declined to cooperate with law enforcement and attempted to flee through a window. However, Morales was apprehended by officers and subsequently charged with Aggravated Assault.
During the investigation into the shooting incident, law enforcement officers established a perimeter around the scene to secure the area.
In an unrelated incident, an uninvolved driver identified as Christopher Ramirez, aged 45, inadvertently drove through the established perimeter. Ramirez proceeded to navigate around equipment belonging to the Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) before colliding with a marked patrol vehicle.
The collision resulted in one officer, who was seated in the front of the patrol vehicle, being ejected from the vehicle. Subsequently, the patrol vehicle struck three other officers who were standing nearby.
All the injured officers were transported to a local hospital, where they were evaluated and found to be in stable condition before being discharged.
Ramirez stayed at the scene and has been charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault and four counts of Passing an Authorized Emergency Vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing. At this time, there is no indication the driver was impaired at the time of the crash.
