The Irving ISD recently accounted that Nimitz High School Principal Francisco Miranda earned the Distinguished Administrator Award from the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) for his commitment to fine arts.

Miranda was nominated for this award by the fine arts educators in the school district.

TMEA’s Distinguished Administrator Award recognizes upper-level school administrators across the state who have been instrumental in preserving quality music education programs on their campuses and in their districts.

“We at Nimitz are all in agreement – our success is directly correlated to Mr. Miranda’s unwavering support,” says Erin Scalisi, Choir Director at Nimitz. “We chose to nominate Mr. Miranda because we wanted to say “Thank You” for supporting our department for the betterment of Nimitz students. What this recognition demonstrates is that successful music programs start with the support of the school’s administration. We are truly blessed at Nimitz to have such a wonderful principal.”

Miranda is a Dallas native and has been Principal at Nimitz since July 2019.  Previously, Miranda was Principal at Crocket Middle School.

“I am honored to receive the TMEA Distinguished Administrator Award. While this is an individual award, I could not have done it without the help of our fantastic fine arts educators who work with our students daily to help them reach their full potential,” says Miranda. “I have the best students in the world who have amazing talents and represent our campus well. I love our students, educators and our community. Let’s keep making history, Nimitz Nation!”
