In the early hours of September 18, 2023, emergency responders from the Fort Worth Fire Department, Police Department, and MedStar EMS rushed to the scene of a major accident on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 30 near Cooks Lane at 12:26am.
Upon their arrival, authorities discovered a devastating incident involving a pickup truck, a sedan, and a motorcycle. Two individuals lost their lives as a result of the accident. According to police reports, both victims were struck by a passing vehicle following the initial collision on the highway.

Due to the severity of the accident and the need for a thorough investigation, the eastbound lanes of Interstate 30 remained closed for approximately six hours, causing traffic disruptions in the area.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has identified the victims as 44-year-old Melissa Anne Lauman and 53-year-old Charles Wesley Rackley.
