Irving Man Arrested for Assault Threat and Officer Assault

In the morning of October 24, 2023, the Irving Police Department received a distress call related to a domestic violence incident at a North Irving apartment. Responding to the call, officers encountered a 36-year-old man, identified as Johnathan Barry Draught, who was allegedly making threats of assault.

Irving officers, upon assessing the situation, made the decision to arrest Draught. However, during the course of his arrest, Draught physically assaulted one of the officers. Fortunately, the officers were able to subdue and restrain him.

Draught was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Irving Jail at 9:37 am. He faces charges related to the domestic violence incident, with a bond amount of $581 for assault threats in a domestic violence context. Additionally, he has been charged with a felony of assaulting a peace officer, with a bond set at $5,000.

Johnathan Barry Draught has a history of previous arrests by various law enforcement agencies, including the Lewisville Police Department, the Carrollton Police Department, and the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. These prior arrests are related to charges of drug possession, theft, and evading arrest and detention.
