The DeSoto Police Department, in collaboration with the DeSoto Independent School District (ISD), has launched an investigation into troubling allegations of physical abuse involving a special needs teacher and a non-verbal student in her care.
The teacher, whose name has not been disclosed, currently faces no charges but has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation's outcome. The alleged incident came to light after video footage, exclusively obtained by NBC 5, revealed the teacher's actions towards a non-verbal student at DeSoto High School.
In the video, the special education teacher can be seen approaching a non-verbal student seated at a desk. The teacher is shown swatting the student's arms and legs with a power cord. Notably, the person who captured this distressing footage is also a special needs student.
