On November 3, 2023, at approximately 11:00am, Arlington police officers rushed to a business located in the 1900 block of E. Abram Street following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered a 36-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. The injured man explained to officers that the gun discharged accidentally while he was in the process of unbuckling his belt to use the restroom.
The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital, where medical professionals determined that his injuries were non-life threatening.
During the course of their investigation, authorities uncovered that the man had prior felony convictions, which legally prohibited him from possessing a firearm. Once the victim is released from the hospital after being medically cleared, he will be taken into custody and booked into the Arlington City Jail, facing one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
