Hickory Street and Denton City Hall East have been reopened to the public after temporary closures due to separate incidents.
The Denton Police Department initially closed E. Hickory Street and restricted access to City Hall East, including the Police and Courts lobbies, as officers investigated the source of blood found in the area. The investigation determined that the blood was from a man with a hand wound. He received overnight treatment, and no criminal offense was identified in connection with the incident.
In an unrelated development, the police department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the same area earlier in the morning. A man involved in the shooting transported himself to a hospital for treatment, and the investigation is ongoing.
The original closures in front of the Police Department Headquarters building were expected to last a few hours. However, with the resolution of the initial incident, Hickory Street and City Hall East have been reopened to the public.
