On June 3, city leaders broke ground on the project to build a new state-of-the-art swimming pool at Lee Park. Scheduled to open Summer 2025, the $5.7 million facility will include a slide, beach style entry, a kids play area, lap lanes, shade and much more.
Mayor Rick Stopfer, Council Member Kyle Taylor, City Manager Chris Hillman, Parks and Recration Director Joe Moses and Parks and Recration Board Member Peter Miller took part in the festivities.
The project is part of the Let’s Play Irving: Elevating Aquatics and Recreation initiative that includes an enclosed aquatic center at Senter Park Recreation Center, as well as a multi-generational recreation and aquatic center at Mustang Park.
