Wanted Fugitive Arrested After Escaping Custody in Irving

On June 5, 2024, at 9:01 p.m., Irving Patrol Officers responded to a domestic violence call at the OYO Hotel located at 4100 W. John Carpenter Freeway near Esters Blvd. Upon arrival, officers found that 25-year-old Eric Alexander Blanco had assaulted a 43-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman.

Blanco was handcuffed and arrested, but it was soon discovered that he was a wanted fugitive out of Dallas. During the arrest process, Blanco managed to flee on foot while still in handcuffs. He evaded capture for almost 40 minutes.

An Irving patrol officer located Blanco over half a mile away at a convenience store on N. Beltline Rd. Blanco attempted to flee again but was apprehended after a short foot chase. He was found in possession of less than 2 ounces of synthetic marijuana.

Blanco now faces multiple charges: Domestic Violence Causing Minor Injuries, Escape from Custody, Evading Arrest Detention, and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2-A under 2 ounces. These charges are in addition to two open warrants from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office for Domestic Violence Assault Impeding Breath/Circulation and Possession of Drugs PG2 under 400 lbs.
