At approximately 8:17 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, Cedar Hill police officers initiated a vehicle pursuit at 301 N Joe Wilson in Cedar Hill. The suspect, wanted on warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony, fled in his Mercury sedan when officers attempted to detain him.
During the pursuit, which extended from Cedar Hill into Duncanville and eventually Dallas, a Duncanville officer joined to assist. The chase proceeded along Highway 67.
At approximately 8:23 PM, the pursuit ended in the 8000 block of Marvin D Love Freeway in Dallas. The suspect fired into the front windshield of a Cedar Hill police cruiser, prompting the officer to return fire through his own windshield. The driver exchanged gunfire with both Cedar Hill and Duncanville officers on the scene.
No officers were injured, but the suspect was transported to a local hospital. Both officers who fired their weapons have been placed on administrative leave as per department policy.
The Dallas Police Department will take the lead in the investigation.
