Irving Fire Fighters Association Celebrates 53rd Anniversary

On July 28, 1971, the Irving Professional Fire Fighters Association (IPFFA) affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) as Local 2073. Over the past 53 years, the IPFFA has grown from 73 charter members to approximately 400 members who serve the citizens and visitors of Irving.

The mission of the IPFFA has consistently been to protect and advance the wages, benefits, working conditions, and rights of all members, both past and present. This mission supports the work of fire fighters, allowing them to focus on protecting the community.

To commemorate the anniversary of their affiliation with the IAFF, the IPFFA has released limited-edition shirts, hoodies, and sweatshirts for purchase. The front of the apparel features the IAFF Local affiliate number and “Mustang City,” a nod to the Mustangs of Las Colinas sculpture, which represents the drive and initiative of Texas's pioneer days. The back displays a cowboy with a fire helmet, symbolizing the early settlers of the area, along with the year of the IAFF affiliation and the #5, representing the 5th District of the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters (TSAFF).

Pre-orders for these items are open through August 16. The t-shirts, made of a soft tri-blend material, tend to run small, so ordering a size up is recommended. The hoodies and sweatshirts, made of smartex material, generally run true to size. Non-members of the Local should select shipping at checkout to ensure they receive their orders.
