Corsicana Assistant Principal Injured in Classroom Incident, Student Detained

An employee from Collins Intermediate School who was airlifted to a local hospital on Thursday is showing signs of improvement. Candra Rogers, the Assistant Principal, sustained injuries during a disruption in the classroom. The incident is under investigation. The event took place in a classroom with fewer than ten students present. The involved student has been detained, and the Student Code of Conduct will be enforced, with charges expected to follow. Due to privacy regulations, the student's identity and specific details cannot be disclosed.

Corsicana ISD administrators, support personnel, and additional law enforcement will be present at Collins Intermediate on Friday and will continue to provide support as necessary.

Mrs. Rogers joined the CISD team in the second semester of the previous academic year, serving as the assistant principal at Collins. Her husband, Eugene Rogers, is a 1984 graduate of Corsicana High School and is currently in his first year as the head football coach at CHS.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Rogers and her family, as well as the family of the student involved, those present in the classroom, and the entire Collins community, including our school district,” stated Superintendent Stephanie Howell. “This situation has been profoundly distressing, but we are committed to ensuring the safety of both our students and staff, which remains a top priority for Corsicana ISD.”
