Fort Worth Police Respond to Four Separate Shootings in 30 Minutes on Sunday

Fort Worth Police had an active overnight shift on Sunday, August 18th, 2024, responding to four separate shooting incidents within a 30-minute span. Below is a summary of each incident as released by the Fort Worth Police Department.

1:38 a.m. - South Division, East Shaw Street:
Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of East Shaw Street following reports of a shooting. During an altercation believed to be related to a firearm sale, the suspect assaulted the victim with the weapon, ultimately leading to the victim being shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Gun Violence Detectives are leading the investigation.

1:44 a.m. - Northwest Division, Highland Avenue:
Northwest units responded to the 1800 block of Highland Avenue for another shooting. Witnesses reported that the victim was shot during the course of a robbery. The victim sustained multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and was taken to an area hospital. The suspect remains at large. Both Gun Violence and Robbery Detectives are involved in the investigation.

1:47 a.m. - East Division, Miller Avenue and Hardeman Street:
East Division units were called to the area of Miller Avenue and Hardeman Street in response to a shooting. The victim, a 23-year-old man, was shot by an unknown suspect and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.

1:56 a.m. - Northwest Division, N.W. 18th Street:
A fourth incident occurred at the 2700 block of N.W. 18th Street, where a witness reported a drive-by shooting. The suspect drove by and opened fire, hitting the victim who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was taken to a local hospital. Gun Violence Detectives are investigating this incident.

All four incidents are under active investigation by the Fort Worth Police Department.
