At approximately 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th, the Waxahachie Police and Fire-Rescue departments responded to a report of a drowning incident at Boat Dock Park on Lake Waxahachie. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered that a 21-year-old man had drowned while attempting to save a teenage girl who was in distress in the water.
The teenage girl, who was visiting the lake as part of a large church group from Garland, Texas, was rescued by a boater from Red Oak, Texas. Emergency personnel administered CPR at the scene, successfully reviving her. She was then transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.
The body of the 21-year-old man was recovered from the lake and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are in the process of notifying the next of kin. In respect for the family's privacy, the man's name will not be released at this time.
The Waxahachie Police Department expressed condolences to the victim's family, emphasizing the support of the entire community during this difficult time.
