The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) will host a public meeting at noon on Monday, Sept. 9, to gather input on transportation planning initiatives, including high-speed rail. The meeting will take place at NCTCOG’s Arlington offices, located at 616 Six Flags Drive. For those unable to attend in person, the session will be streamed live at publicinput.com/nctcogSept24. Participants may also join by calling 855-925-2801 and entering code 10502. Public comments will be accepted until Tuesday, Oct. 8.
An update on the Dallas-Fort Worth High-Speed Transportation Connections Study will be provided, highlighting recent developments. In response to concerns from the City of Dallas regarding the proposed downtown alignment, the Regional Transportation Council (RTC) held a workshop on July 11. On Aug. 8, the RTC decided to continue with the federal environmental review process while allowing for flexibility to explore alternative routes that address stakeholder concerns. NCTCOG staff will review the project’s planning, engineering, and stakeholder engagement efforts to date and outline the next steps.
The Miles Matter Program, a collaboration between the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, Carma Technologies, and the Texas Department of Transportation, is set to launch in September 2024. This initiative will use smartphone technology to analyze travel patterns on Dallas-Fort Worth roadways. Approximately 500 participants along the Interstate Highway 35W corridor will be incentivized to adjust their commute times outside peak periods. The project aims to gather insights, with additional phases planned based on initial feedback.
Information on interactive public input, air quality funding and initiatives, Try Parking It, and Access North Texas will also be available online for review and comment.
Residents using transit to attend the meeting can access $6 roundtrip rides from the CentrePort/DFW Airport Station to NCTCOG via the Arlington Transportation app, available for download at arlingtontx.gov/ondemand.
