On September 18, 2024, a Prosper Police officer initiated a traffic stop after observing several violations. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
After a second officer arrived, the driver was asked to step out of the vehicle, and a probable cause search was initiated. As officers began the search, the driver attempted to flee on foot. A short chase ensued, and officers apprehended the driver. During the arrest, the driver resisted and attempted to bite the officers but was subdued and placed in handcuffs.
A search of the vehicle revealed 5.35 ounces of marijuana. The driver was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana weighing between 4 ounces and 5 pounds.
Prosper Police commended the officers' proactive work in maintaining safety in the town.
