Irving Man Pleads Guilty to Lesser Charge in Child Sexual Abuse Case

On September 2, 2022, Irving Police officers arrested 31-year-old Miguel Angel Cardoza-Rivera after child's outcry that she had been sexually abused. Cardoza-Rivera was charged with 2 counts of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14 years of age, 1st-degree offense.

On July of 2024, Cardoza-Rivera's attorney made a plead deal with the Dallas County Criminal Attorney General. In the plea deal, he would plead Guilty for the lesser charge of Indecent Assault, a misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 1 year in county jail, starting July 15, 2024.

The deal was offered after the investigation by the Irving Police Department revealed that Cardoza-Rivera had touched the genitals of the victim without her consent in July of 2022.   He is an illegal immigrant and will be prosecuted by INS after his release from jail.
