Irving Police Arrest Repeat Offender for DWI After Attempted Resisting

Luis Fernando Reyes-Martinez

On Thursday night, October 3rd, an Irving Police officer stopped 25-year-old Luis Fernando Reyes-Martinez of Dallas for suspected drunk driving. When asked to exit the vehicle, Reyes-Martinez attempted to flee on foot but was quickly caught and handcuffed by the officer. He was booked into the Irving Jail at 11:22 PM and charged with Resisting Arrest and DWI 3+ (Blood).

Reyes-Martinez has a history of arrests, including an October 2023 charge for Criminal Mischief, where he received two years of deferred probation for causing over $2,500 in damage to a vehicle. In June 2024, he was given a 3-year probation and deferred adjudication for a 2022 drug charge. Despite four previous DWI convictions, Reyes-Martinez has consistently avoided harsh sentences, receiving probation instead.

There is growing frustration over his repeated offenses and the concern that a harsher sentence may only come after a more serious tragedy occurs.
