On Thursday, October 10th, at approximately 9:32 a.m., emergency crews from Fort Worth Fire Department, Police Department, Medstar EMS, and CareFlite responded to a major accident on northbound West Loop 820 near Camp Bowie. A single vehicle had collided with a freeway sign, entrapping at least one occupant.
Firefighters worked to extricate the individuals while a CareFlite air ambulance was dispatched to the scene. Northbound Loop 820 was shut down for several hours during the investigation, reopening at 2:20 p.m., according to TxDOT.
Despite the rescue efforts, both occupants of the vehicle were pronounced deceased. Eyewitnesses reported erratic driving just moments before the crash. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
