Irving Massage Therapy Student License Revoked for Engaging in Inappropriate Conduct with Client

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has released its latest findings regarding violations that resulted in administrative orders over the past two years, including penalties, license revocations, and cease and desist orders related to unlicensed activity.

Recent license revocations include:

  • A massage establishment license in Plano was revoked, and an administrative penalty of $13,500 was assessed after the owner employed an unlicensed massage therapist and allowed an employee to engage in sexual contact within the establishment.

  • A massage establishment license in Fort Worth was revoked, with an administrative penalty of $4,500 after the owner permitted an employee to engage in sexual contact and failed to maintain required initial consultation documents for each client.

  • Two establishments in Austin had both their massage establishment and massage therapist licenses permanently revoked and received lifelong bans due to closure by emergency order for suspected human trafficking activities.

  • A massage therapy student permit in Irving was revoked after the student engaged in sexual contact with a client during a session and failed to discontinue the professional relationship after the client attempted sexual contact.

  • A Texas massage therapist license with an address in Flushing, New York, was revoked following similar allegations of engaging in sexual contact with a client.

Additionally, a cease and desist order was issued after an Athletic Trainer license in Jacksonville was suspended by operation of law, preventing them from working as an athletic trainer.

TDLR emphasizes the importance of verifying licenses to ensure that service providers have undergone necessary background checks and completed required training. Individuals are encouraged to request license numbers from service providers and report any unlicensed activity or file complaints.
