83-Year-Old Woman Killed in Head-On Collision with Impaired Driver in Azle

On October 18, 2024, around 7:37 p.m., Azle Police responded to a major accident in the 13500 block of FM 730 South. A preliminary investigation revealed that a Toyota Tundra, driven by a 64-year-old man, William Charles Salathe of Fort Worth, crossed the center line while traveling northbound and collided head-on with a Honda CR-V.

The driver of the Honda CR-V, identified as 83-year-old Ann Browning Henley of Azle, suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Officers determined that Salathe was impaired at the time of the collision. He was arrested at the scene and has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter with Vehicle.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Azle Police Department expressed condolences to the family and friends of Ann Henley.
