Little Elm Police Chief Rodney Harrison recently issued a public statement regarding former police officer Wes Moyer, who has pled guilty to charges of diverting drug evidence following his termination in March 2021. Moyer, who previously served in the Little Elm Police Department (LEPD), faced serious allegations of misconduct, including involvement in a bar altercation and tampering with evidence under his care.
On March 4, 2021, Moyer was reportedly involved in a disturbance at a Dallas bar. Chief Harrison personally responded to the scene and, after a rapid internal review, discharged Moyer from the LEPD on March 5. Following this dismissal, the department launched an investigation in coordination with the Denton County District Attorney’s Office and other agencies. During this inquiry, troubling evidence came to light, suggesting that Moyer may have misappropriated controlled substances he was tasked with transporting to the crime lab.
The findings prompted a Denton County Grand Jury to indict Moyer on four counts, accusing him of diverting drug evidence for personal use. Chief Harrison addressed the community, reaffirming that the LEPD upholds stringent standards of accountability and that there is no tolerance for lawbreaking within its ranks.
Moyer’s guilty plea is part of an ongoing commitment by the LEPD to root out misconduct, with Chief Harrison emphasizing that all LEPD officers are held to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. The chief’s statement underscored his department’s commitment to transparency and maintaining community trust as this case comes to a close.
