Holiday Grease Recycling: Keep Your Pipes Clear and the Planet Green

This holiday season, avoid the common mistake of pouring used cooking grease down the drain—recycle it instead. Fats, oils, and grease can clog pipes and lead to costly sewer backups.

From November 18 through January 10, the Valley View Municipal Complex, located at 333 Valley View Lane, is hosting a free used cooking oil and grease collection event. Residents can drop off their used cooking oil in a sealed container daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The collected oil will be recycled into biodiesel or biogas, providing an environmentally friendly alternative fuel while reducing landfill waste.

Please note, this event is specifically for cooking oil and grease; used motor oil should be taken to a designated household hazardous waste location. Keep your pipes clear and contribute to a cleaner, greener environment this holiday season!
