On Sunday morning, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a Sansom Park Police officer observed a vehicle driving on the shoulder of Jacksboro Highway, an area designated for pedestrian use. The driver then nearly collided with another vehicle that was turning.
Suspecting intoxication, Officer Downes initiated a traffic stop. However, the driver failed to yield, entering Highway 820 and leading officers on a slow-speed pursuit that continued for several miles.
The chase ended when the driver stopped near Camp Bowie in Fort Worth. Officers escorted the individual from the vehicle and placed them into custody without incident.
The driver now faces charges for driving while intoxicated with an open container and evading arrest with a vehicle.
The operation was supported by the Fort Worth Police Department’s Air One unit, the Lakeside Police Department, and the White Settlement Police Department communications team. Authorities emphasized the importance of interagency collaboration in maintaining community safety.
